am not sure if i should be happy or not about this new "who’s viewed me" feature of friendster…. i had already expressed my disgust (or uhmm.. i couldn’t find a subtler way of saying it.. hehe) about that counter which shows how many ppl have viewed your profile.. and then the beautiful ppl behind this friendster show even carried it to the extreme… you could now actually see who exactly viewed you!!! (kablog.. that’s me falling off my chair, actually)

friendsters.. i want to help u be discreet about yer stalking pursuits…

CHANGE YOUR VIEWING SETTINGS NOW… CLICK THE "NO, I DON’T WANT TO BE SHOWN AS A STALKER" BUTTON… really, i am damn serious.. lol.

just wanted to express my views on this matter… friendster admin, don’t shoot me or remove my account, wowkei? hahah.. luvyah! weheheh…

new fezzz

September 20th, 2005 by jowwnayn

it looks like the administrators of friendster pilipinas couldn’t resist the calling of putting up new features here… though it would mean larger bandwidths required, our profiles will still look funkier… (that, if you know how to make your page one. lol.) a rip off of my favorite myspace, we could now put up music videos in our profile page. yipee! gwen istifanee!!! my idoool! yeah, gwen’s my alter ego (in my dreams)..

now, the über-essential thing in one’s profile is, of course, a really catchy profile pic. not that you have to look like you just came out of a rhinoplasty operation, lol.. an "i just woke up and i feel pretty today" pic will do. like that one you see on my profile page. hahaha! (got muta?)

hehehe.. nonsensical blog. what i just would like to say is that i’m happy friendster’s been serious ’bout rejuvenating itself…

n.b. i wish, i wish they’d take out that "your profile has been viewed xxx times" feature.. that seems to be for egotists! so what if your profile has been viewed zero times? tell me… does that mean you have to delete your account then?!

Twelve Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Our Country

August 31st, 2005 by jowwnayn

we don’t know where this country’s going to… and so i tell myself (and even some of my friends do) that i should leave this place, grab a greek hunk and live in the island of crete or whereva! hahahah!

i don’t know what wrath the Lord has put me in, why he made me a citizen of this nasty country. i am an intellectual good enough not to deserve a country as f*cked up as this…

but for those who wish to stay here, those who believe this still is paradise, here is a solution (hmm.. probably). a book by some filipino author… (sorry, boy, but someone summarized the contents of your book in one e-mail. does this mean less book sales? muwahahah!) read on, friends… guess we need a lot of convincing that there are things we could still do for this rotting country. (jose rizal is now my idol <am taking up P.I. 100, Life and Works of Rizal> poor boy, he had himself shot by those freaked out spaniards just for his country to be saved from rotting. i wish you never allowed yourself to be shot, mann.. wish you instead stayed in heidelberg or berlin or wherever and became a good storywriter or one of the greatest docs back then. if only you could see what the country you died for has gotten into… tsk tsk)

THERE’S a booklet making the rounds in Metro Manila that every
Filipino who loves his country should get hold of and read, and
hopefully put the points it raises into practice, in order to help our
nation…

"Twelve (12) Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Our Country,"
by Alexander Ledesma Lacson, may be a "voice in the wilderness"; but
as Fr.Ruben Tanseco, S.J. puts it, what Alex proposes are "very
concrete, practical and doable" actions for us ordinary Filipinos.

A simple enumeration of these "twelve little things" will not Do
justice to the work of Alex. You’ve got to read the whole text, but I
shall try to compress a few lines for some of the items mentioned.

1. Follow traffic rules — Why is that the most important? The answer
is simple. Traffic rules are the simplest of our laws. If we learn to
follow them, it will be the lowest form of national discipline that we
can develop.
Since it is totally without monetary cost, it should be easy for us to
comply with, and therefore should provide a good start.

2. Whenever you buy or pay for anything, always ask for an official
receipt. — If a seller does not issue an official receipt when you
buy a product, the seller may or may not remit the tax to the
government. Without an O.R., there is no record of the sale
transaction, and the tax that you paid may not be remitted to the
Bureau of Internal Revenue.

3. Do not buy smuggled goods. Buy local, buy Filipino. — It may not
be good economics to buy 100 percent local products. What I suggest is
for us to take a "50-50" buying attitude. This means that we must
develop the attitude of using 50 percent of our budget for local
products and the other 50 percent for imported choices.

4. When you talk to others, especially foreigners, speak positively of
our race and our country — this is best addressed to the rich and the
middle class in our country, who have contact with the outside world.
It is they who talk to, dine or deal with foreigners either here or
abroad. It is  what they say and do which creates impressions about us
among foreigners.

5. Respect your traffic officer, policeman, soldier and other public
servants — There is nothing like the power of respect. It makes a
person proud. It makes one feel honorable. At the same time, courtesy
to others is good manners. It is class and elegance and kindness. It
is seeing the value and dignity in the other man. It is, in fact, a
mark of a most profound education.

6. Do not litter. Dispose your garbage properly. Segregate.
Recycle.Conserve. — As Louis Armstrong says in his song: "I see trees
of green, red roses, too, I see them bloom for me and you and I think
to myself, what a wonderful world."

7. Support your church. (or charitable/ civic organizations — :-)

8. During elections, do your solemn duty. — Honesty, more than a
masteral or doctorate degree, is what gives credibility. And
credibility is essential because it is a leader’s link to the people.
It is what makes the people look to one direction, follow a common
vision, and perform a uniform act.  In short, credibility is what
makes people follow the leader.

9. Pay your employees well. — No exercise is better for the human
heart than to reach down and lift someone else up. This truly defines
a successful life. For success is the sum, not of our earthly
possessions, but of how many times we have shown love and kindness to
others.

10. Pay your taxes. — In 2003, P83 billion was collected from
individual income taxes. But 91 percent of this amount came from
salaried workers from the government and private sector, people who
had no choice since their income taxes were withheld mandatorily. Only
P7 billion of the P83 billion came from businessmen and professionals
like doctors, lawyers, accountants and architects, among others.

11. Adopt a scholar or adopt a poor child. — You can make a
difference in the future of our country by making a difference in the
world of children.

12. Be a good parent. Teach your kids to follow the law and to love
our country. — Today’s children will someday rule and lead this
world. But whether they will be bad rulers or good leaders will depend
largely on how we raise them today. Our future is in the hearts and
minds of our children.

There is no shorcut to a place worth going.

thank you, all of you who celebrated my birthday with me in thought and/or in deed… and yes, i have to wake myself up, tell myself i’m 23 already. 10 years ago i was this naive high school freshie — clearly remember my visitors to my little party. (so lemme talk ’bout my party 10 years ago instead, okay? lol.) 23’s cool, it’s MJ’s numba! ain’t it, mommy googoodolls? ;)

celebrated D-day with my half ate and her mom… had much fun with them. and yes, i surprised them again with my easily-stuffable gut… (mijareses i encounter couldn’t believe i am their clan member. lugi daw sa eat-all-u-can. but really, i’m now doing my best to match people’s appetite — and chewing/swallowing velocity… lol.)

for now, it’s back to academic chuvas and yes, i’ll be a lot busier… for october is on its way! (nuninuninuniiii… wake me up, when september ends) graduating na jud ko bai… i have waited for soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to be in this sichuweyshennn. and now i can’t believe i am 7 weeks close to smelling sweet success. *sigh*

though agghh.. some more gut-tightening, some more praying to all of the global deieties. lol. my current subjects aren’t making me sleep well recently. and like one of the books i read once in a while’s titled, my mantra for the past few days has been… MAMA SAID THERE’D BE DAYS LIKE THIS (But She Never Said Just How Many)*.

*by Charlene Ann Baumbich… cute and amusing book <<ay muhm, gikawat ko diay ning libroha’s imong bookshelf atong nilaag ko’s imong cudi haus… sowee forgot to inform u. hihi!>>

June 29th, 2005 by jowwnayn

i hate liars.. friendster is one.. there’s this "one new message" that i’ve already viewed and when i go back to home page, it still appears as "one new message" and when i open to view the "one new message" it’s the same old "new message" i had just viewed…

liar!

so bite me!

June 29th, 2005 by jowwnayn

bite me, ma fwends.. no testimonials from me as promised, eh? wehehe! i’m a myspace addict now… friendster happens to be second best now. people there are hotter (LOL)

but then i make my friendster account as exclusive as possible.. meaning, i reserve it for my real friends and acquaintances… for real people. i just am probably thrilled with the idea of the anonymity i have on myspace. virtual "friends", people i don’t really intend to meet up with in the streets. but this could only be temporary…. *sob*sob*

lazy bum bum.. when will i ever start writing your testimonials?! or, heck, why do i even worry about not writing you testis.. am not required to, am i? (well, maybe for those who wrote me testis, i am obliged)… gimme a greek hunk first then i’ll write you one! haha!

i hate water — fish fuck in it.

June 15th, 2005 by jowwnayn

here’s
something i wish i had read many, many years ago… even before i had
the gathered the idea of falling in love with somebody.

well, anyway, i still give credit to the author for pointing this one out.

Love and fairness
by Bob Garon, The Manila Times
30 May 2005

They say that, “All is fair in love and war.”

    Perhaps all is
fair in war, but there is much that is unfair in love. And unfairness
in love always contributes to a loss of love, to a fading in the
intensity of love.

When two people fall in love,
they expect to give in order to strengthen their love relationship.
They instinctively know that giving is essential to loving and, if all
goes well, they are eager to do so.

     There is,
however, another side to the love coin. Lovers expect to receive at
least as much as they give. And I suspect that in many cases they
expect to get more than they give.

     More than that, we
were not all raised in the same way. Nor do we have the same values,
same work ethic. In short, some of us are more giving than others. And
some of us are more takers than givers. This is when problems arise in
committed relationships.

Lovers are willing to give as
long as they receive rewards for their giving. Social scientists have
established this as a fact. Even when one partner does most of the
giving, rewards are still expected, if not now, then some time in the
future.

Even in the most solid relationships, giving and
getting may not be of equal quality and quantity. One partner might be
giving more today, less tomorrow and more next month. Giving and
receiving are difficult to measure.

     Still, partners are
happy when they feel they are well treated by the beloved. If they
benefit a whole lot less from the relationship, then they become
unhappy because they see themselves as giving and giving and getting
little in return.

The spouse who is on the receiving end
might be very satisfied on the other hand. If he/she is decent, there
will be a measure of guilt feelings. If, however, the one benefiting
from the unequal relationship is immature and a professional “getter”,
then he/she is happy and satisfied even if the partner is suffering.
This is why a mama’s boy who is married to a good woman who, like his
mother, does everything for him, is a very satisfied guy. He gives
little, but gets a whole lot in return. Not a good deal for the wife,
but a wonderful situation for him. It’s a terribly unfair situation for
the woman, but he’s not complaining. As long as the wife tolerates the
unbalanced relationship and is willing to suffer through it all, then
the marriage will limp along, perhaps even for a lifetime.

If, however, the woman grows sick and tired of the whole situation,
then, that is another story. There will have to be changes that correct
the imbalance. If not, the relationship will end in separation or take
on a more adversarial stance.

     Lovers can give in large
measures and with a happy heart even if there is an imbalance. They
cannot continue to do so indefinitely without deeply wounding their
love. If love is to benefit the lovers in an optimum way, it will have
to be fair and equitable. Lovers will have to work hard to bring about
a balance that causes both of them to feel like the luckiest people in
the world, even if they are not. If they can do this, their love will
blossom forth and give them a deep sense of happiness and satisfaction.

A Mars Spectacular Phenomenon

June 12th, 2005 by jowwnayn

i thought this already happened last year???

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!  This month and next, Earth
is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the
closest approach between the two planets in recorded history.

The
next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.  Due to the way
Jupiter’s gravity tugs on Mars  and preturbs its orbit, astronomers can
only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last
5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens
again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th
when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next
to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky.  It will attain a
magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest
75-power magnification.

By August 27, Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked
eye.  Mars will be easy to spot.  At the beginning of August it will
rise in the east at 10 p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise
at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 a. m.
That’s pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen
in recorded history.  So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August
to see Mars grow progessively brighter and brighter throughout the
month.

and then, the best part of this "news":
NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN.
hahaha!:p

how lucky is lucky???

June 11th, 2005 by jowwnayn

so much for all the bad luck i’ve had over the years (months).. this sem, i feel really really lucky coz am on my way to stardom. hehe! neh, i feel like all my wishes are nearly coming true. it’s like my angel’s been providing everything, almost everything that i ever wish for… lately. my deutsch teacher happens to be the one handling DAAD scholarships in the philippines, my job application (so so but the experience is fun…), my gorgeous greeks on myspace who holla back (kilig! wehehe), and everything else.

am a changed person now, my hair has red streaks in it and i got red nails. morning showers haven’t been this good lately.. thanks to my new shower gel. the body shop’s olive bath & shower gel! try it, peoples… hehehe! it just feels different!;)

haha! it doesn’t mean i hate taking showers, i mean showering lately has been a totally different experience. it’s that jumpy feeling you get when yer set for a date. the anticipation of meeting someone new. the fuss of having to dress up, look good.. smell good. hehe!

the body shop’s shower gel in olive… mmmm.

and then, i feel like a lucky child…
